Interviews Are Long Form, and You're Asking the Same Questions Over and Over Again

i think it's because a lot of people have a talk track that they're used to. The first 30 minutes are kind of awkward, and you're getting to know each other. But then once the person trusts you as a host, they are willing to go deeper. That's why for my interviews at fortune, if i only got 30 minutes with a person, i just knew i would get the high level, generic stuff - especially very well media trained ceo. Give me like an hour, an hour and a half, or a whole day, and i will like, dig up their childhood fears, and we'll get to really knows each other. Andi i do think that
