The biggest thing is to not make assumptions as a clinician about what skills the person has or what do they know. I normally start off with a lot of psychoeducation about emotions different thinking patterns body sensations and then go to strategies but before getting into the strategies in particular am I aimed the whole time in a therapy session is to try and ensure that the client is kept within their window of tolerance because yeah sometimes if I'm introducing too much information too quickly it might be too much for the person to process. If they haven't built those emotional regulation skills it might betoo much for them to process in the session.
