The Importance of Labor Law
"I feel strongly about this because the fact that that manufacturing revolution was not allowed to happen, that it happened in China and it didn't happen here is to me, a humanitarian disaster," he says. "It condemned hundreds of millions of people to poverty for much longer than necessary" India's labor laws are similar to those used in Europe at the end of World War II; they were passed as part of an anti-poverty program. The difference came when Babus decided to make it rent extraction: no law can deal with that problem.
He gave up a staggeringly successful career to live a quiet life -- and now he shares his wisdom with us.
