After two decades of trying to put the place in order and find some kind of compromise with the various groups there. The idea that palestine was more trouble than it was worth was gaining, well, it had gained at least equal footing with the allies of the zionists within the bitish british government. This is what is going on in palestine now, and it will go on for the next 50 years, in all probability. In the early years of the war, you know, most of the non compliant arab leadership was dead, imprisoned or exiled. And so despite the complaints of those british officials, despite the outbreak of the most destructive conflict in human history
