The Double Vision of Grief
The idea that there is this double vision in in these emotions. It's both inevitable, but also irreconciliable or they can't be integrated. Emerges said it was something like the following thought: Well, grief itself is a form of consciousness are consciousness of loss. In thinking about my own grief, my attention moves from the loss onto myself. And so that's kind of the structure of the double vision.
