Is There a Culture That Drives the Technology?

I think a really interesting lesson in the history of computing is just that individuals do have a lot of influence. And I think there was a big push of individual power of freedom that comes with computing and there were a lot of individuals I think that kind of pushed things in this direction. You can imagine AI going in either of these different directions and we don't know which way it's going to go, right? We're seeing a lot of the same right now in ML.
