Polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS was first described in 1721 by an Italian scientist named Antonio Velus Nary. Hyperinsulinemia with insulin resistance is considered one of the most important factors that predispose people with ovaries to PCOS because it promotes hyperandrogenism and chronic and ovulation.
