I Become a Good Father by Reading Philosophy
After getting his girlfriend pregnant at 19 years old, I suddenly realized that I knew nothing about myself or the world I lived in. As my daughter's mother progressed throughout her pregnancy, I bought and read books voraciously almost at random. After months of this, I stumbled across introductory books on philosophy and became fascinated with the subject. This led me deeper into politics and history and science, all of which I could not get enough of. Eventually, as my daughter was born and I was entering my early 20s, I decided to pursue my love of philosophy formally at a community college and then at a state college.
