Are You Not Being Paid to Do Your Art?
I know your book is for artists, but I think a lot of our listeners might not necessarily identify as artists. But one of the things that you write about is how just because you're not being paid to do your art does not mean you're not an artist. It also goes against every capitalist side hustle, glorifying instinct in our contemporary brains. How can people kind of make this shift? The first thing is whatever the practices you are that connect you to yourself creatively through some form of creation has a value in your life that is bigger than money.
