The Linear and Cyclic View of Time in the Bible
This is the chapter that made me wonder sometimes because the scholarship that I had to go through to write this chapter really sprawls across disciplines. What I try to show in this final chapter on creation and pantheism is that all cultures have a view of time which is linear and cyclical. So without denying that the Bible has a telos and a minute narrative that moves from creation to a new creation it is an overall a narrative with a purpose and with a goal and an end. But there are lots of cyclical components along the way. And I think Ecclesiastes helps us to see that.
