The Effects of Emotional Abuse on Attachment
Shame filled in children it's called disorganized and in adulthood it's called fearful. This comes from emotional abuse or other types of abuse or neglect typically. For children that grow up in an abusive environment basically it really screws up your attachment system. There is a way of experiencing the faith tradition that I grew up with that feels like this that feels like the source of comfort is also the source of danger and my attachment system does not know what to do with that.
