It's not clear to me that this person has solicited feedback from the employee. It could be that maybe the CEO might have a soft spot perhaps for this person because of their long tenure. That was my question is when when you're going to someone and when that seems like you're doing it in the spirit of having a helpful conversation, being a better thought partner.
