The Importance of Being Independent
When she was a teenager, LZ Granderson wanted to go to boarding school in Switzerland. She says her parents let her be independent and never asked how it would affect them. Now that she's Jewish, she can stereotype Jews as much as she wants because they're like "right there," she says. The idea of living for your parents instead of yourself really bothered her at the time.
