The Importance of Mindfulness in Meditation
The purpose of meditation is not to get rid of thinking. If we think we're trying to eliminate thoughts, we'll be at war with our mind for the rest of our lives. The intention here is to be mindful of thinking and then there's some choice in relating to thoughts because some thoughts are incredibly useful. Many, many thoughts actually perpetuate moods of anxiety and tightness.
