Comparative Judgment and Effective Instruction

I've realized that assessment is about a standard and so if we can find ways of assessing to a standard um you know we can actually focus more on the teaching and the instruction. The idea of multiple choice questions which are linked to an assessment for any year level has really turned it on its head for me. You could give somebody a year two and someone in your 10 the exact same assessment and you can all of a sudden match two students of different age groups and different year levels against a standard and see where they're at. That's a much more honest way of understanding where a student sits than marking them. I think there's something creative and part of teaching that's really important where
