The Effects of Oxygen Therapy on Primary Outcomes

The best estimate from these trials is that the oxygen regimens do not dramatically affect the patient outcomes. A really useful advance from this trial is that the high normal range did not appear overtly harmful. The 28 day in hospital mortality estimates are very large and certainly encompass clinically important effects, but like other recent trials, they do provide reassurance that large mortality effects attributable to oxygen therapy are unlikely.
