Visualization to Enhance Performance
Athletes can use visualization to improve their performance, says Ato. The study involved volunteers playing a piano for two hours with one finger moving up and down a scale of five notes. Another group did the same thing without a piano but imagined that they were playing them. This is called cenesthetic imagery - where we recreate movement by vividly imagining how it feels to move. It was first brain imaging conformation of what's actually happening when a person visualizes something.
