Getting the Right Concentration for Hydration

A lot of athletes actually take in too much water when they're vigorously exercising and that will inhibit performance by about 3% because the fluid sits in the stomach. The saltiness of blood as the optimal concentration for hydration which ends up being 3200 milligrams of sodium per liter of fluid. You want to start fueling and hydrating 105 to 90 minutes prior to competition so most athletes aren't actually starting to hydrate an hour and a half prior but that's actually what the studies show you need to do.
