The expectation from our past can influence us to look for something and possibly perceive it, even if it's not necessarily being projected out by that person. So we may detect, for example, a neutral face as negative. And so there's different cognitive testing that also looks at that, at emotional bias kind of thing. Some people might detect neutral faces as angry, and they're doing this by focusing on specific features of a person's face. That narrows their thought action toire, because they are going to respond to what they think is anger when it may not be there.
