with an inch back down it got a little bit underwater it was not nearly as underwater as it was you know before oh no no no absolutely not yeah i i think if you look at her appearances in 2024 versus 2019 which was running for president. She is unquestionably an improved candidate. You know, she's worked at it. Yeah.

But also when you when you when you get to parachute into the binary choice and all Democrats are going to talk themselves into you, I think that that's I don't know how much faith I put in that in terms of her improvement as a candidate. But then again, I also say, again, I'm more sympathetic to the idea that she was marching into a firing squad than, you know, that she did a particularly great

job. But this raises the question, I don't know if this is where you want to go with this conversation or not. If she does more interviews over the next two years, and she does act a little looser, she does seem a little more open and she develops more of a really solidifies what her persona is beyond what's happened in this sprint. Is she viable in 2028? We'll

And yeah, TheYoung... TakePoliticsSeriously.com. Let's get to our update. President elect Donald Trump is suing Iowa pollster J. Ann Seltzer, alleging that her pre-election poll showing that Vice President Kamala Harris was leading in Iowa constituted a brazen election interference. the state by over 13 points. His lawsuit claims that the poll intentionally misled voters and forced Republicans to divert campaign resources. It's filed under the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act, and the suit targets the Des Moines Register as well as its parent company, Gannett, for publishing the poll. Seltzer mystified by the accusations and defending her professional ethics after the announcement. Of course, Seltzer announced her retirement from electoral polling after this race. Gannett and the Register dismissed the lawsuit as baseless. No, sir, I don't like it. I'm not a gigantic fan of suing media outlets. I think it's not great. Now, that being said, there was another story that popped up over the weekend, and that was ABC News settling a claim against Donald Trump for $15 million that George Stephanopoulos had to apologize for, and they will pay $15 million toward the Donald Trump library. That is something that I think you had more of a case for, specifically in that George Stephanopoulos said that Donald Trump was convicted of rape repeatedly or found liable for rape. He was not found liable for rape. He was found liable for sexual assault. Now, does that meaningfully change the way that America thinks about it? Up to you. Look, I mean, the Eugene Carroll case is what it is. But that was a difference in what things actually were. Now, what is normally, what normally comes up with stuff like this is that the person saying the incorrect thing has to know that it was incorrect and say it anyway. The conversation that George Stephanopoulos got in trouble for with Nancy Mace did revolve around the idea of non-consensual sexual activity, including the fact that Nancy Mace is a rape survivor. So that to me, I'm not a gigantic fan of that, but I can understand that one. The Iowa poll lawsuit, and I'm going to say that I've not read all of it, but what I have read is that what the Trump suit alleges is that this was a poll and that the two final Iowa polls put out by Seltzer were communicated to Democrats beforehand and were being used as agitprop. Now, if this were to go to discovery and then all of a sudden people have to start putting out their text records, I don't know if the real point of these is to just kind of send a chill to media outlets communicating directly with actors, political actors. Now, if that's the case, you know, I'd be very curious to see. Well, I guess we already did. I mean, a lot of these are kind of born out of the lawsuits, the Dominion lawsuit that was brought against Fox News, where the discovery process was very painful, and eventually the media company wound up settling with Dominion. Now, they might have been able to go to court. They might have been able to win, but it would have meant that a lot of people would have had to take the stand and talk under oath. You can be asked about a lot of different things under oath. So they didn't want to do it. They settled. ABC, similar situation. They settled. Are they, is the Trump team going to settle with the Des Moines Register? Gannett does not have quite the deep pockets that ABC has or that News Corp had.
