The Power of Storytelling
Nike is effectively a storytelling company. And that's its competitive advantage against the Germans, as we used to call them, added as Impumor and so forth. My job was to identify sign and then work with athletes to help them tell their stories better. When I left Nike a few years later, it kind of took me on this curiosity to see whether a deep focus on understanding your story and learning to be a good human first could actually help athletes not only compete better, but also retire better too.
