I don't really think that they've heard of this idea of reading with intent. I am relatively certain none of these young people in my class have any children. This is not a story that's going to be as powerful to them as some of the other stories. But it is really wild to me how scandalous it feels to read with intent, to read with purpose and to think about the ways in which they may apply.
