Anticoagulation in AFib After Non-Cardiac Surgery
AFib is developed most often in the ICU, when someone has sepsis. Does being on a blood thinner actually help decrease the stroke risk? The best we can do is surmise that AFib developing after non-cardiac surgery is not from direct cardiac manipulation so must be some sort of adrenergic surge. And maybe something similar is happening in the sepsis population.
