The Emperor's New Mind was the first popular science book that I ever read as a teenager in 1989 when it first came out. Did it sort of touch a nerve in the popular consciousness that it's still a bestseller to this very day for you? I'm not sure. I initially thought that it might either disappear without trace or that maybe there would be a little attention to pay to it. There was a lot of antagonism from certain quarters. But amongst the people, not just the retired older and a few young people they were, usually people who got inspired by the book.
