Do You Recommend Eating Prior to Working Out?

When working out, Mike used to have a very small pre work out meal. But now he has one that fills him up two hours before his training session. He says it's not necessary but most people would benefit from having some protein and carbs in their diet prior to the workout. 'I think everything i've done at the gim is now wasted,' mike said when asked what advice he'd give someone who felt like they ate too many calories during workouts.
