The Different Types of Fat

There are three types of fat: saturated fats, trans fats and unsaturated fats. Trans fats increase LDL cholesterol which increases your risk of having a heart attack or a stroke. The Australian Heart Foundation's website is encouraging people to diet low in saturated fat as well as high in unsaturatedfat. When you swap those calories for calories from unsaturated fat, you reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.
