The NIR is an innovation that's probably commercially available over the last 10 to 15 years on a fairly widespread basis. Wet chemistry can also be used for dry forages, wet chemistry or dry forages and silages. With high degree of accuracy, it's just that the NIR is cheaper and faster for those feed types and relatively accurate. Some of the complex feeds like screenings, total mixed rations, supplements, distillers grains, you would be looking at wet chemistry as opposed to NIR.
