Neuropsychiatry: Is It a Consequence of a Spinal Block?

There are some reports from the Canadian literature that if you do a spinal block, or indeed an epidural, this somehow blocks the pain temporarily and then you do the amputation. But there are other reports claiming that that's not true, so it's still not clear. I have patients who have a very troubled experience of their bodies. Sometimes so troubled that they don't experience that they have a body. Some of them are driven to cut themselves as a way to make manifest the fact that they are material beings.
