I encourage people to check in and say that how effortful their work is. And also think about the quality of their effort. Sometimes you can think about effort just on a simple scale of one to ten where ten is maximal, one is minimal. I've actually got people to go through this process during the day of simply noting down during the days of their alertness and their level of effort. It's such a fundamental part of sports performance.
