This chapter delves into the historical importance of Palmaris, a 17th-century settlement of escaped slaves in Brazil, and its role in early Black political organization in the Americas. It also introduces Abdíash do Nascimento's concept of 'Quilombismo,' shaped by his own experiences and aimed at inspiring contemporary Black Brazilians towards liberation.
