The case is thrown out mostly because in America, it's just very difficult for public figures and for companies to win defamation lawsuits. Public figures have much more ability to respond than a private figure does. So if we say on this show that like Gwyneth Paltrow is like faking her organic certification, her products are from sweatshops or something, she's a massive celebrity. The state doesn't really need to get involved. If somebody says on their podcast that lady podcasters in Portland are the worst, like you can't sue for that.
