Is Amiodarone a First-Line Anti-Rhythmic Drug?
Amiodarone is a very effective rhythm control drug when used in the appropriate setting. The European guidelines have moved amiodarone from class two recommendation to class one recommendation, still emphasizing that it should not be first-line drug. Less than 10% of patients with newly diagnosed patients atrial fibrillation ended up having capillary ablation within the first two years.
