Currently we have a patent system which has been abused. Patents are often way too wide beyond what the company actually innovated in, just to keep competitors away. The tools for research, like the hammer and the screw driver, equivalent of the research, are getting privatized. And that's not really what should be patented. Should be much more downstream. That kind of governance of an innovation system for the public ood.
