Self Compassion - The Counterweight to the Sympathetic Nervous System
When we feel an someone feels threatened, we try to help them. Self compassion provides for a kind of switching from one safety system to another. It's called the para sympathetic and it helps us rest and digest. We release things like oxitosum as a way to feel safe.
