The Importance of Ice Cream Rounds in Emergency Medicine

The ice cream rounds that I was a part of last year were an adaptation from the broader format of ice cream rounds. We invited a leader, a senior staff, a practicing physician to share a story related to a theme about their own medical journey and their own wellness. And we did that over the course of the year. The themes were transitions and managing failure and managing fatigue, mindfulness. In each theme, there was an opportunity for both the trainees to hear from a leader and also for the trainee to speak with each other about how they were managing these aspects of their experience.
