Anxiety is a sharp double edged sword. While it's protective, it's also productive. We've started to learn that when we're anxious, dopamine spikes in our brain. Dopamine is coordinating our brain to sort of supercharge us to meet and pursue positive goals. It can prime us to seek out those people who we know will help us in times of distress.
