In the Algonquin languages proximate is unmarked, obviatives have special marking. Obviation manipulates discourse a bit when you use it because you have to keep something at the center in order to make things unambiguous. This is the polypersonal agreement in theAlgonquin verb system also shows up in the in the aviation system.
