Theta Barra's Life and Career

Theta Barra embodied a fantasy of wanton man-eating and destruction, with no regard to propriety or long-term consequences. It was a lifestyle which no real woman could get away with in the 1910s when Victorian ideas about the genders were still very much prevalent. Theta's career would not have been possible just a few years later, for many reasons, one of them being censorship. Censorship of movies did not begin to become centralized until the mid-1920s.
