The eight limbs of yoga are a series of practices that help to purify and still the mind in preparation for meditation. They were developed by ancient swami pārāṇjali, or sorry, patanjali,. The kāra translates into thread, a thread upon which beads of wisdom may be hung. Their ultimate goal is absorption in that highest self-absorption in consciousness - free from any mental fluctuations currently clouding our perception of reality.
