The Relationship Between Subjectivity and Political Agency
I tend to use the word subjectivity just as a synonym for consciousness, right? Not as maybe a historically specific project that you can trace to the enlightenment. But on the other hand, I was thinking of the book by the German sociologist Hartman Drosa and it's called resonance. In that book, he talks about seeing subjectivity as a kind of seismograph or even a thermometer. And then each of us with our own subjectivity are like these thermometers plugged in not just to the earth, but to our social and political and economic worlds that we inhabit. You can see the qualities of consciousness and subjectivity as almost readings of how all those fears are coales
