How Do You Qualify Meditation Practices?
Meditation is an umbrella term like exercise that encompasses a lot of different practices. So how do you think about grouping them or finding commonalities and mechanisms that can then be studied? Yes, it's a really interesting question because I often find in my work as a cognitive neuroscientist research in the effect of meditation practices on brain instruction, function and physiology. There are many categories out there, but categories, as always, are not very good ways of passulating our experience.
