If a person is given the opportunity to rationalize their choice or reason it out, then it drastically alters their behavior. People who have been taught about sunk cost fallacy are more likely to get it right because they remember what they've been taught in class. It's not so much whether you're a good reason or not that is going to matter, but your environment and others' opinions.
