You Don't Want to Be Wanted Just for Your Body or for Your Money

Even if people know what they want in the sense of not wanting merely that the other person wants to be wanted by them, they really don't know what they Want. It looks suspiciously like there are these various sorts of shame scenarios where people don't want to associate with those scenarios because those have been criticized as bad. I think it goes along we can go one step deeper. We sort of want to be wanted for features of ourselves that have symbolic potential. And then, you know, I would much rather you like me for let's say my charming idiosyncratic personality than for how I'm really good at predicting what's going to happen.
