What Is Self Compassion?
Compassion is the concern with alleviation of suffering and motivation to do something about it. It's different than empathy, which is feeling what other people are feeling. Compassion means being aware in a certain way that you can't give yourself compassion when you're freaking out or shoving it down. Mindfulness is essential to be able even to give ourselves compassion, says Dr. Alan Weisman.
