The number one variable to explore in the choices of foods outside of choosing organic when possible, it's not only for the foods that are not used to be used. Outside of that, and gluten, is choosing foods that don't have refined sugar the next or is it above that as a priority? Like these high fructose corn syrups, these sugars that you're talking about. And maybe even as a little mindfulness experiment to see how you're fueling your body, track for a week or two in something like a diet tracking app.
