How Deep Breathing Helps You Mellow Out
Vagus nerve is one of our largest pair of sympathetic nerves. It passes behind our heart, pierces the diaphragm and enervates our gut. Deep breathing or diaphramatic breath stimulates that vagus nerve. This brings us back into a rest and digest state. There's a reason you can't digest food very well when you're stressed out. And so if we can tap into that para sympathetic our sleep becomes better too.
