The Heaton Law: No Worse Than Dog Shelter?

I think I would be okay with having a law that said, look, you can't do anything to an animal you wouldn't do to a dog. If we said you can raise cows, chickens, pork, all that, you can totally raise them. You totally eat them. They just have to have a life that's not significantly worse than a dog in an animal shelter. How about that? Animal shelter. It can't be worse than life for a dog inan animal shelter. And I could make a good moral argument that the gains that I get gastrointestinal of eating an animal is not sufficient to outweigh the suffering that it goes through.
