The Role of Stimulants in Addiction

Tuesday's James Coles asks Sam and Alex about stimulant medications like methylphenidate and ex-amphetamine with commonly used often addictive or even illegal stimulants. There is some evidence that the stimulants reduce substance misuse of other stimulants or other drugs when people with ADHD take them which is one of the benefits of medicating. The same drink bought in different brands of coffee shops could have a tenfold difference in caffeine content so it's not just you don't know what you're getting in the illegal ones we've talked about this before but I think there are many negative effects on pregnant women too.
