The Beach Boys, I Think a Lot of the Influences Came From Television

TV would be much more of an influence than talking heads, even though i don't think that necessarily comes out much in our music. There's certain things about the way they use melodies, which early on, i think was quite a big thing for us. And then maybe the influence of a band like fairport convention coes through in television, and makes sense to us in a way. The beach boys, actually, i don't listen a the beach boys so much any more but when we were making the first album, how they arranged this pot music, which wasn't really for a band, and had really prominent vocals,. i think that was also probably quite a big influence.
