Emotional competence is the capacity to feel our emotions so that we are aware when we're experiencing stress. And then awareness of what you genuinely need and kind of need to do versus what you might do because of the acceptance or approval of other people. The first thing apparently we've all got to do is have emotional competence, which I feel like is hard to do and easier to say. So actually saying, oh, you know, I understand you feel sad. It's okay to feel sad.
